Simple meals dropped at people’s doors during self-isolation. Genius.
Annabel Rugge-Price runs Fond of Food, a very popular and successful private catering company based in Wiltshire. She is booked solid all year round and happy to cater for a private dinner for 2 to a wedding reception for 300. Nothing is too much trouble and the meals served are always super delicious.
When Coronavirus (COVID-19) hit, all her bookings were cancelled and postponed – weddings, 18ths, 21sts, Memorials – everything. She was determined to keep cooking and so decided to help the elderly and self isolating in her two local villages Easton Royal and Milton Lilbourne.
She now cooks and delivers at cost three different daily meals – kedgeree, chicken bake, or cottage pie all with peas. Simple good food at £4 a dish which serves two modest appetites.
Delivery is free and made by her trusty driver – Jamie who is also her wonderful husband. They know a lot of the people they are helping and can keep a friendly eye out and make sure everyone is well fed and safe.
Thank you Annabel and Jamie for being our countryside heroes. In times like these, it is more important than ever that we look after the elderly and most vulnerable in our communities. Annabel and Jamie have shown tremendous community spirit throughout the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and we are delighted to be sharing their incredible work and community spirit today.
Simple meals dropped at people’s doors at minimum cost. Genius!
